Are you a Processed People?

I came across this website yesterday. It is promoting a DVD documentary called “Processed People.” The premise of this film was so interesting that I had to buy the “Processed People” DVD. I am still waiting for my copy so I can watch it.

From the Processed People website, the statistics stop you cold.

“Two hundred million Americans are overweight and 100 million are obese. More than 75 million Americans have high blood pressure. 24 million people are diabetic. Heart disease remains the No. 1 cause of death for men and women, followed by stroke and obesity-related cancers. Obesity is about to overtake tobacco as the No. 1 cause of preventable deaths in the United States.”

That is staggering data. The documentary’s premise is that we have, through the media. been processed to buy and eat foods that are processed. A “Processed Person” is someone that has bought into the media and advertising hype to develop a lifestyle and eating habits that consume processed foods – things that are not really food. The documentary suggests that this lifestyle has led to obesity and the health challenges that accompany excessive weight gain.

The documentary is 40 minutes of several interviews with experts on wellness and health.

The ideals put forth in Processed People align with the research and hCG weight loss protocol offered by Dr. Simeon and the hCG diet. While the initial hCG diet protocol is a very low calorie diet, all the foods on the diet are whole foods including simple and low fat meats and fruits and vegetables.
